What is "Tiefgang"?

Tiefgang ("deep dive") is a format we built ourselves. Around seven minutes of spoken reflection on a single subject — letting go, self-worth, a decision, a feeling. Built-in pauses for breath, no teacher's tone. Not an exercise, not an instruction, not an affirmation — closer to a short, quiet letter to yourself, read aloud. Works on the way home, while walking, before sleep.

Is Calm Sessions free?

Yes. Calm Sessions is currently free to use — no end date set, no card, no subscription. We're still building and we're glad for any feedback.

How long will it stay free?

Until further notice. There's no end date and no paywall right now. If we later introduce a Plus model, we'll reach out in good time — and everyone who's with us today gets early-supporter benefits.

Do I need an account?

No. You can open Calm Sessions and start immediately — the first sessions run without login. An account is optional, only needed if you want to sync across devices.

Does it work offline?

Partly. Once you've played a session, it stays in cache and runs offline. A native offline feature with its own download manager is in the works.

How does the AI affirmation work?

You speak one sentence ("I can't switch off," "I had a fight with my partner"). The app transcribes the audio via OpenAI Whisper, sends the text to GPT-4, gets three to five affirmations back, and has ElevenLabs voice them. The voice recording is deleted immediately.

Where is my data processed?

The database and audio cache live in Frankfurt. AI calls (Whisper, GPT-4) go through the EU region of each provider. Voice recordings are deleted after processing. Details in the privacy policy.

What is Tiefgang?

Which breathing exercises are included?

Four patterns: 4-7-8 (sleep), 4-4-4-4 (box breathing for focus), 4-6 (stress), 3-3-6 (before difficult conversations). With an interactive timer and breath visualisation.

What happens if you introduce paid plans later?

Your data stays with you — account, favourites, journal, stats — all preserved. You can delete your account yourself any time. Everyone who's with us today gets a lifetime early-supporter offer when (and if) we launch Plus. We'll reach out in good time — no payment upfront, no card stored.

Whose voices speak the affirmations?

A calm German female voice for the German content and an English-speaking male voice — no US-coach pathos. There is no in-app voice picker yet; more voices will follow step by step.
