The Paper Bridge

A man builds a bridge made of paper across a chasm. It looks stable, but with each step, it tears more. The cigarette as stress management is a paper bridge. It's time to build a real one.

The Paper Bridge
```xml Take a comfortable position and allow yourself to come to rest for a moment. Breathe in deeply once and out again. Once more – a long breath in, and slowly out again. Today I would like to tell you a story about a bridge builder. A story about what we rely on. Once there was a wanderer who came to a deep valley. The chasm was wide, the other shore barely visible. But over there lay his destination – a village where he wanted to find rest. At the edge of the chasm sat an old man crafting from newspaper. "What are you doing there?", asked the wanderer. "I build bridges", answered the old man, without looking up. Breathe in and out with me once. The wanderer laughed. "Out of paper? That cannot possibly hold." The old man smiled. "Look closely." He laid layer upon layer, folded skillfully, glued with saliva. The bridge looked like it was made of solid wood. Smooth, stable, inspiring trust. "You see?", said the old man proudly. "My bridges look real." The wanderer was impressed. Carefully he placed one foot on the paper bridge. It held. He ventured a second step. Still firm beneath his feet. But the further he went, the more the paper began to tear. Small cracks here, a sagging beam there. With each step the deception became more obvious. In the end he hung over the chasm by scraps of paper. Let us pause for a moment and breathe. Inhale, two, three, four. Exhale, two, three, four, five, six. Once more. Inhale, gather strength. Exhale, let go. Think about your own paper bridges. The things you rely on when it gets hard. Perhaps they look like real bridges. But do they truly support you? Or do they tear under the weight of life? Let this question simply echo within you, without answering it. Breathe again calmly and evenly. Some supports do not hold what they promise. Some supports do not hold what they promise. They look like the solution, but they are only paper over a chasm. Real bridges need time, solid foundations, strong beams. Take this thought with you into your day. Breathe in deeply once more and feel your feet on solid ground. Gently open your eyes and return to this moment. Thank you for these shared minutes. Thank you for using Calm Sessions. ```
