Your hand rests on your belly and feels it rise. As you exhale, imagine the tension flowing out of your shoulders. With each breath, you become heavier, more rooted. Your heartbeat may be fast – it only shows that your body is working. You do not judge it, but speak to it as you would to an excited child. Slowly, my dear. We have time. Now breathe in for four seconds. Hold your breath for seven seconds. And exhale for eight seconds. Four in. Seven hold. Eight out. Once more: Four in. Seven hold. Eight out.
